When can I ride?
Whenever you fancy. Ride like the wind. Do as you please. Sign up any time before August 31 to track your rides and blow past your goal.
What am I fundraising for?
This year, we are helping to replace the 15-year-old x-ray units in Medical Imaging. The total cost is $1.6 million. With a $100,000 matching gift from Lori and John McAuley of Muskoka Woods, funding for 1 replacement mobile x-ray unit is near completion. To replace the 3 remaining units, $1.4 million in x-ray funding is needed prior to December 2020 when all 4 units are deemed out of service by the supplier.
Since 2010, donors to the Foundation have bought all the major equipment – replacement or new. We encourage everyone who can, to support purchasing local medical equipment by riding like the wind!
Is there a minimum needed to participate?
None. Set a goal. Go for it. Even, blow past it. When you set a personal distance goal and a donation is received, our tracking will divide your goal by the donation amount and share how much per kilometre you just FUNraised!

Connect your Goal Setting Page to Your Fitness App
With our fitness app integration and manual entry, tracking the journey towards your goal has never been easier. Your profile page includes your personal distance tally so you can track your distance towards your target. This is a great way to keep your friends updated on your Ride! If you track your rides with Fitbit or Strava your distances will automatically add to your tally.
Follow these steps to track your KMs automatically:
- Download the Fitbit, or Strava and set up your account
- Log in to your fundraising page.
- Under the heading ‘Connect your preferred Fitness app’, click your chosen app.
- Follow the prompts to connect your account
- When you next ride, select ‘start your workout’ in the app on your phone. Once you end your ride, save your ride and your distance will be published to the tally on your page the following day.
If you have synced your app already but it is not working, please log in and re-connect it.
When using Fitbit, you must ‘start’ an activity and save it. Your daily steps will not automatically add to your page. If you are having issues, try syncing through BOTH your Fitbit and the Fitbit app on your smartphone.
When using MapMyFitness, you must ‘start’ your workout, ‘stop’ your workout and then ‘SAVE’ your workout.
Your tally will be updated each day with the previous day’s distances. Track your KMs manually:
You can manually add your kilometres to the tally in your “Log My Fitness Activity” tab of your fundraiser dashboard. This is a great option if you’re using a different method of tracking your distances.
- Log in to your account and select ‘Log My Fitness Activity’
- Under ‘Add activity’, enter the date and distance
- The number of KMs will now appear on your fundraising page!
How can I support a rider?
Click 'donate' and search for the participant you'd like to support. Having troubles finding them? Contact us at the Foundation of the West Parry Sound Health Centre 705-746-4540 x 3345.
Am I eligible for a tax receipt?
Yes. All donations should receive an automatic payment confirmation, followed within two weeks by an official receipt issued by Foundation, West Parry Sound Health Centre if it is eligible for tax benefit per the guidelines of the Canada Revenue Agency. If you have a question about the eligibility of your specific donation, please contact CRA or call us at 705-746-4540 x 3346.
Until COVID, Cash was King. Do you still take it?
We're happy to take cheques and cash. Please mail cheques, payable to Foundation, WPSHC to Foundaiton, WPSHC 6 Albert Street, Parry Sound, Ontario P2A 3A4. If you are supporting a specific participant, please reference their name in the memo line.
Riders, if you are collecting multiple cash and cheque donations, consider tracking these on a separate paper and forwarding one cheque along with the sheet of donor information for receipting to cover all cash to the above address.
